Recreation Therapist
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Recreation Therapist work in a variety of settings, such as schools, hospitals, camps, correctional facilities, rehabilitation centers, mental health facilities and nursing homes. With the ongoing "graying of America", recreation therapy with the elderly will be a growing area for employment. According to the US Dept. of Labor, Recreation Therapy jobs are expected to grow, "faster than the average". Develop treatment plan to meet needs of patient interest and objective of therapy. Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities. Confer with members of treatment team to plan and evaluate therapy programs. Conduct therapy sessions to improve patients mental and physical well being.
Salary: $30,000-$60,000
Education:
          Recreation Therapist need to be certified as a CTRS through the NCTRC. The general requirement for certification are:
  • ·      A minimum of a Bachelor’s level degree.
  • ·      Documented field placement or work experience in recreation therapy.
  • ·      Passing the NCTRC certification exam.
