Glenn Cunningham (athlete)
Summary:
Glenn was born on August 4, 1909
and he passed away on March 10, 1988. He was an American distance runner. He was
considered the greatest American miler. He
received an award of top amateur athlete in 1933. He was born in Atlanta,
Kansas but grew up in Elkhart, Kansas. His legs were burned really badly in and
explosion when he was eight. His brother was thirteen and his brother died in
the fire. Glenn thought he wouldn’t be able to walk again but by taking therapy
he was able to walk again. He competed In the 1932 summer Olympics and the 1936
summer Olympics as well. He also has a park named after him in his hometown.
Reflection:
Well I think Glenn was
a strong man and he never gave up. He was a good competitor and he got a mile
run of 4:06.8 and that stood for three years.
